Mack - How did you like The Powerless Rise? I really, really liked it.
Overall I think the album is not too bad. The melody singing style they picked really isn't for me. I would have preferred that if they 'really' wanted to do a melody to make it a power style (Christian Liljegren (Narnia/DivineFire), Rob Rock, Matt Smith (Theocracy), etc.) and progressed it more towards a deathcore sound as well. Now a solid deathcore power metal mix, that's something that'd grab my attention.

I just watched the greatest Non Bible Christian Movie i have seen (When forgetting the Hollywood Greats like Ben Hur and so on).
Movie was called "End of the Spear"
On top of it being excellent movie, it is also a True Story.
Its story about how one Tribe was won for Jesus.
Despite the movie having Completely Christian Plot, it is not Just for Christians.
Although it is true Christians will enjoy that movie a lot, and maybe even get inspired, it is totally showable to any Non Christian as well.
It has strong message inside it, yet it is displayed in such a way that it doesnt propably doesnt bother even those who are against christianity.
After all, it is just telling what happened without taking any position about anything or preaching about anything. But it is clear that if viewer things about it better, he has to think of it.
Remarkable true story, excellent approach and quality, oh boy!, we talking of a QUALITY Christian movie here!
When compared to for example Kirk Camerons Fireproof (Which i though as excellent movie too), fireproof was still slightly clumsy here and there compared to Hollywood movies.
And they also didnt get message told without it changing into bit of preaching and having couple of other basic problems that Christian movie makers making Christian teams have (ie, we always want to show Praying as something cool, which is exactly why it almost always looks stupid in Christian movies, and in non christian movie makers praying looks good. Same applies for Comics).
End of the Spear on the other hand, it doesnt have any bit fool looking praying or any other basic mistakes that christian movie makers make. And it is as good as any Hollywood movie.
It was actually such quailty that had it been only slightly better, i think it could have been fairly competing even for Oscar (although i doubt they would take christian movie there unless it was produced in Hollywood like Mel Gibsons Passion of Christ).
But anyway. Great movie, Great story, and movie as good as any Hollywood movie (and even better than most actually), and can be shown to any non christian friends, and yet has real strong message in it.
Fantastic! If you havent seen it, time to watch it!
It is the BEST christian movie i have seen. Beats any Kirk Cameron movie any day (And i like Kirk Camerons movies)

I recently re-watched Superman: the Movie, the 1978 Christopher Reeve version... still awesome after all these years, and I still tear up when Superman starts saving people, and the music kicks in...
I've also seen the Last Airbender, the Sorcerer's Apprentice, and finally saw that Percy Jackson movie. I actually enjoyed the Airbender film, despite the obvious Buddhist/Shinto influence, and the dismal reviews. I wasn't expecting much in the way of a typical action movie, given it was directed Shymalan, and I had never seen the animated series. I enjoyed the poetic somberness of it. Sorcerer's Apprentice could've been better, but I thought it was interesting that it contrasted the Jedi/Telekinetic approach to magic of the good guys to the more Satanic approach of the bad guys. I'll get back to that in a moment. As for Percy Jackson--- ok, it's an obvious knock-off of Harry Potter, with a Greek mythology twist. Interesting that commentary on monotheism was avoided. Also interesting that in our faith, God becomes a man to reach out to His people, whereas the Greco-Roman gods are adulterous, petty, cruel, and in this film remain aloof from mankind because "being human" distracts them from their responsibilities. Politically, that translates into aristocracy, rather than democracy, which says a lot about where the Left is coming from, I think, despite their rhetoric to the contrary.
Back to the Sorcerer's Apprentice-- elsewhere on the boards, I mentioned several different approaches to magic. One is the "science" approach-- the use of potions and crystals, and even using secret words or mathematical formulas that reshape reality by keying into the "vibrations" of the universe or something like that. Another approach is the "Jedi" option, where there's something inherently "magical" about the character that allows them to telepathically and/or telekinetically affect people and/or things around them (the approach of the Apprentice film, the Harry Potter series, Bewitched, and Star Wars). A third approach, and the more realistic one, is the summoning and manipulation of spirits (demons) by the character in question. We see this in Disney's "Bedknobs and Broomsticks," and in various episodes of Buffy & Angel, and sometimes Charmed. This is actually how most actual would-be practitioners of magic attempt their art, with varying degrees of success. Obviously, it's not quite the spectacular Hollywood version, but still, real and dangerous.
A FOURTH approach, and one which can be used compatibly with the first or the second by the same character, or in the same story as the third, by a different character, is what C.S. Lewis called "Deep Magic," what Aslan used to bless the Pevensy children, and undo the White Witch's spells. It would be the same sort of "magic" that Moses and Elijah used. It is the Shekinah glory, the Holy Spirit, and while there might be some argument as to whether it is the Spirit Himself that is performing these actions in answer to our prayers, or it is our own gifts that are unlocked by the Holy Spirit, there is no doubt that the source of the power is from God, and is not brought about by the spirit of control (witchcraft, or Jezebel). IIn Narnia, the children never cast any spells at all, but merely obey Aslan.
