Well, here I am at the speedgame, and I'm feeling like Arch on this one: Han and Sam together?!? if Arch is an African nation, then I'm Micronesia or something.

Anyway.

It looks like this game will come together programmed in Java and using GIMP and Photoshop Elements 7 for graphics. It would have been awesome to do something with Ogre and Bullet, but game size is limited. I don't like programming real-time games in Java because...I just don't, so I'm looking at the puzzle genre.

Galatians offers a challenge for me because it doesn't seem to have many good physical themes, all the doctrine is purely spiritual. The strongest seems to be the Fruit of the Spirit, which will most likely be overused, so I'm steering away from it and looking at different options.

I'm getting a good idea, but I need to make sure it's from God before I forge ahead. I had to head back to the Fruits of the Spirit, but only as a secondary game element, and it will actually probably be real-time.

So it would seem that God is leading me to try something unfamiliar and hard (for me).

This being my first speedgame entry, I'm going with a very simplistic approach. The game takes place in the realm of the mind. A seed of the Spirit (derived from the fruit of the
Spirit) is planted in the middle of the screen. Based on Galatians 6:7-9, you must protect the harvest from sinful nature until it comes to fruition. 9 levels, one for each Fruit.

Maybe I'll get some pics up soon.

Sounds like a solid game plan, good luck!

I agree with Arch -- sounds like a good game base. Looking forward to seeing your entry!

Thanks for the support...maybe I'll have some beginners' luck!

Unfortunately, I'm going on vacation next Thursday, which will cut into dev time badly.

Wahoo! Here I am again. I've actually been too busy coding to post here. Now I'm just sort of limping along in development as I catch up with the rest of the world.

Screenshot of doom (may I remind you that graphics need an ultimate re-work):

Ack! I've fallen to the bottom of the thread list! Don't worry, I'm still working!

Must...post....SCREENSHOT! (graphics still need some rework)

Question: can we use free internet resources (i.e. Freesound)? Can I use renders of a spaceship I made in Blender a while back?

You can, but you must say that you did in your readme.

I'm getting very close to completion, so I'm working on adding a main menu and a sandbox mode.

Screenshot (I was having fun with sandbox):
