I think best option is to have both Judges and Mob vote.
Judge categories are the onews giving the prizes, on mob votes only the 1st gets something, althouhg best three are listed too.
To raise some money for Gospel-Finland Championship organization, there was kind of interesting idea this year in voting.
I dont think it was very good one actually, but i think the idea was interesting, and maybe developed bit further, it could even become useful one.
Thing was, so far we have been having this system that people can vote for their favorite band by paing 2 Euros for each vote and 3 for 5 Euros (and same person can buy even 100 votes if he wanted) Then that decided the Audience favorite which was its own category.
That judges decided best three, and then there was this audience favorite too.
However, this year we tried something different. Instead of making the audience vote separate, we made it so (wasnt my idea btw) that audience vote worked as one Judge vote.
That while there were i think ti was 7 judges who would give their votes to their favorite bands, Audience votes would give one Judge voice to audience favorite.
So basically there were 8 Judes instead of 7, since Audience worked as one Judge.
Personally i like more from Judges decide 1-3 and main prize and victory goes to Judge decision, but Audience favorite number 1 gets prize too, just not the main prize.
My vote for Speedgame is, that there is similarly Judge category, which will be the main prize decidor, and then there will be community vote too, which can either be:
1. Those who participate vote only (but not themselves) 2. Those with 20 posts can vote (but not themselves) 3. Or anyone can vote (but not themselves)
Basically i think there could be even that number 3 as own category, but i think number 1 and 2 are pretty much mutually excluding choices. That only 1 or 2.
And i think number 2 is better choice. Since this is Community contest, so why close out those who dont want to or cant participate. For example someone might be in this community solely from interest of wanting to write about Christian Games. Therefore he proapbly doesnt participate in the contest, since hes interest is not to make games, just follow and write about them. But wouldnt he be eactly the good kind of guy to check out the games and review them for contest too? So by excluding him with number 1, we would be excluding out some very valuable member of our forums.
All in all. One choice would be:
Main Prize decider: Judges Another prizes decider: Community
And on top of these could be third category still, that wouldnt have things like "Best Graphics, Best Sound, etc." but simply would have "Best game" and there would be voted numbers 1-3 and it would be open for anyone.
reason for this third one would be, to both give some marketing practice (it is important aspect of game industry after all) and also to expose more people into this forum to get more members to this forum and get this better known.
For this last categories idea is that you ask aqll your friends, relatives etc. to help you by voting you in this forum for the best game.
That way it would be easy way to show some people about his forum. "Please go and vote for me in christiandevs.com to help me win". They go, and they see the forum. Most wont stay, but maybe some will stay and become active members.
