Jeff and I have been looking around for portals or sponsors for our game, Open Fire Gold. While some portals have said yes, they will accept Unity content (or never mentioned that it would be a problem) they did say that the game didn't fit their target audience. Since we can't find any more portals (we did find one) that are willing to host any form of the game (Web player/Mac Standalone/Would have windows if we could get a Unity Pro license
) we thought we'd look to the Apple Developer Connection program, which has a neat giant portal that the first Open Fire game was released on.
Our not-so-small wish is that we could find a company willing to display static image ads in the game. The problem is that we can't find anyone who will do that for an offline non-flash game (however we can make the game download new ads off the web, even though the game binary is resident on the client's hard drive). Do you know of any sponsors we could contact? This can be in-game advertising that displays on the Highscores, while loading the game, or loading a level. We can't support video ads since we don't have Unity Pro, but any static image will display fine.
The fine print: The game, in offline, non-web-player mode will have to be Mac only.
