This morning I was doing a bit of research for my game design, trying to find out how long the planets go around the Earth. Now that's a strange thing to do, since we all know they go around the sun, along with ourselves. But the fantasy world aspect of the design demanded a geocentric astronomy, if for no other reason than simply having things done from the standpoint of an observer on our own mudball. Accordingly, I came across something very interesting regarding Jupiter.
Jupiter's "transit," the time it takes to come around to the same point in the heavens, in relationship to Earth, is about 11.9 years. Now that struck me, because that's roughly how long the sunspot cycles are. Sunspot cycles greatly affect our weather cycles--the more sunspots there are, the "worse" our weather gets: more rain, lightning, thunder, etc. So Jupiter's transit and the sunspot cycles roughly correspond? And Jupiter is... the sky god? The guy in Roman mythology who does the whole storm & lightning bolt shebang? The same guy the Greeks worshipped as Zeus?
The ancient astronomers kept careful track of the stars and planets, in order to help the farmers know when to plant and harvest crops, sort of like the farmer's almanac. Those are the guys who would've known that Jupiter's transit roughly corresponds to the weather cycle (though they wouldn't have known about the sunspots, presumably).
Now here's where we get Biblical: on day four in the book of Genesis, God creates the sun, moon and stars (including the wandering stars, the planets) to mark the times and seasons. In other words, God created these things to help mankind regarding such things. I suspect the wise men, knowing so much, gained more and more control over the farmers, and developed the whole Jupiter/Sky-god thing as part of their perversion of their duty touch on one of God's gifts to us.
Anyways, I thought this was pretty interesting. Now I'm trying to find out what purpose the transits of the rest of the planets serve to help us in God's scheme of things.

Problem is sunspot activity is 11 years give or take a little, Jupiter orbit is 11.86 years. So every hundred years or so it goes from most sun spots when Jupiter is in one position to the opposite position then back.
I do agree God set things up with built in cycles - I just disagree that this evidence supports why.

yeah, it's not a complete correlation between the two phenomena, in terms of time, which is why I said "roughly." Either the ancient almanacs would've picked up on this, or maybe originally the transit of Jupiter & the sunspot cycle were much closer (before a variety of Biblical disasters hit our planet). The sunspot cycle has actually been as high as 12.6 years, but the average since it's been recorded has been 11.1 years. Still think it's interesting.

And while you at it, go find me the larger explanation about Horoscopes being "Christian" (in broad sense) invention.
Chuck Missler side mentions in one of his speeches that Horoscope starshapes, if you put them to order of from brightest to darkest, they would give you prophetic biblical story and that would be the roots of their naming.
I would be very interested in hearing the whole story but dont really know what keywords to use to search them from internet.

Jupiter wouldn't have its orbit without the rest of the planets.
